Inspiration in a Soup Kitchen

I found inspiration in a man who I met in a soup kitchen. I went with a group of young adults to serve a lunch, consisting of spaghetti, salad, and desert to a group of clients who resided in this house. I got so much more from that experience beyond just serving lunch. I feel I was meant to be there and to sit down with a gentleman named Eddie. He was an inspiring role model. I learned that he had been shot and was not supposed to live. He wakes up every morning, with a smile and peace in his heart, and knows that God saved him from the streets. He knows that there is a reason he is still living and lives every day as a gift. If he can do it, I can do it.
He gave me some strength to just hang on and keep going. I had some common interests with him, such as writing and listening to jazz. I really got so much from spending time with Eddie and hope to pass it along to others.
It truly makes a difference and helps you to see the light at the end of the tunnel.
I know I saw a lot of hope in this man, Eddie.
What would it take for you to get inspired today? Please post comments or thoughts.
Thank you.
